You may very well decide to buy your next computer from us, read on to find out why:

Choosing, buying and owning a new computer, can be a real pleasure when you do it right. When you decide that the time has come to buy a new computer and just go out and do that, you often invoke "the law of unintended consequences".

Computers still cost a fair bit of money, at least enough to bring on serious buyers remorse if you make the wrong choice. The only way you can make the wrong computer choice is if you don't really know what you are doing. No blame,… most people don’t.

That is why you need advice from an independent expert.

We know, nowadays. nearly everyone has a computer geek wannabe friend that they go to for computer advice. And then there are the IT guys at work who dispense computer advice like they are really in touch with what is currently going on. Most IT guys are so stressed out just staying on top of their job that they don’t have the time to track the latest developments.

Fact is a lot of the geek wannabe friends don’t really have a clue, because they are just repeating what their geek wannabe friends tell them, and do you really think the stressed out IT guys at work are going to take responsibility for your next computer?

Don’t get me wrong some of these people do know a lot about computers, but the point is, when you are about to spend fairly serious money, on a hopefully good computer experience, you need to find out all the facts before you decide. It is called informed consent and when it comes to buying a computer with your presumably hard earned money, it is essential.

We don't push any corporate brand name computers:

We are definitely not fan-boys of any of the brand name corporate computer manufacturers. Oh sure there are a lot of things we like about particular features and specific components inside those corporate boxes.

The thing that helped to turn us into custom computer designers and builders was the fact that to get those nice components and features at a seemingly great price we were obliged to accept the garbage that went with them.

Like getting a new computer or laptop home and finding the operating system infested with all those junk free trial software packages that nag at you every time at start up. Then you find out that most of these free trial software packages are Trojans and Spy-ware and ‘call home’ with your private information at every opportunity.

Also you wouldn’t believe the crap components that are in a lot of brand name computers. We really shouldn’t complain, keeps our repair shop nice and busy.

What you really want is a clean box with a clean operating system. To get that from a corporate vendor you have to jump through hoops and pay extra.

Growing up to the reality of computers:

Many of us have been using computers for twenty five years now, either by choice or necessity, or both. Many of us really like computers and enjoy using them for both work and pleasure.

We all know now that computers are here to stay and we all realize that a good computer is essential to our survival and social life in this increasingly tech and internet driven world.

There is more to it than this though. Even computer friendly people were overwhelmed by the speed and complexity of computer innovation.

That's all over now we have lived with these amazing machines for a long time and we have learned much. You could even say we have grown up to the reality of computers.

We no longer dumbly accept what the corporate computer manufactures push at us with their deluge of advertising.

No geeky weirdness:

You won’t run into any condescending geeky weirdness at Arqucom. Admittedly some of us around here are as geeky as they come, but to work here you have to love people and computers even if not to the same degree.

Some people are scared of computers:

Even people who never use computers at work know the need for a personal computer or laptop at home. Some people say they feel no need for a computer personally.

When nearly everyone else expects to be able to send email and share digital photographs it can get pretty embarrassing and awkward. At Arqucom we enjoy helping people to get into their first computer, and can even arrange for introductory computer help.

We give you good advice about your next computer:

A surprising number of people are still at the early stages of confident computer use or even discovering them for the first time.

Not knowing what you are doing when it comes to computers, and making the wrong choice, can come from only two things: Lack of experience or bad advice. Arqucom can make up for lack of experience, and we never give you bad advice.

Computer lovers really like Arqucom:

We really enjoy helping computer savvy people build and tune their ideal system.

We pride ourselves on building and maintaining high quality computers that are built to last, and easy to use. We build all of our computers from the ground up using only the highest quality components and
integrated operating and software systems.

How do we know what the best components and systems are?

We have repaired literally thousands of computers over the years and we see first hand what motherboards hard drives and other components stand the test of time and continuous use.

The additional answer to this question  is that we continuously track new components undergoing bench tests:

How long should my computer last?

You should get at least ten years of good use out of a well made and properly configured and maintained computer. Depending on how much you use it, you may need to replace the hard drive after between three and five years. Other than that it should just keep going.
Even if you decide to get a new computer after a few years, your existing computer should be able to take up its new life as a second backup computer. Or you might like to pass it on to a family member or friend.

How do arqucom computers compare on price?

We compare very well on price. We are building computers right here in Toronto. We build them with the best components, configure and set them up, offer you the option of a dual boot system, and they cost around the same. In some cases less.

Even when you buy the right computer you still need to think about maintenance and backup:

The internet is full of horrible stories about peoples bad experiences, when they try to realize the benefits of the maintenance contract they bought with their computer. Delays can last for weeks and months in some cases. As far as we are concerned, maintenance delayed is maintenance denied.

We respond quickly and effectively. We have different levels of maintenance plans and we will advise on the one that suits you best.
